The Beginning. The Journey. Now

It all started when I was a little girl. Walking around in my mother's heels, hats and jewelry, I always imagined that one day I would grow up and be this uber stylish glamazon. To this day, my mother is one of the most fashionable, classy and elegant women you will ever meet. As a former model she knew how to wear the clothes and not the let the clothes wear her, a valuable lesson to pass on to her daughters. I later learned that regardless of all of the fabulous threads from Paris and Milan, or the wall of handbags and  shoes, the key to style is confidence and taking risks. That is what makes a woman Unforgettably Chic!

While it took awhile for me to come into my own, I think I finally got the hang of things toward the end of my undergraduate years. (I must admit my awkward phase carried on for what seemed to be forever) Growing up in Los Angeles where the clothes reflect the weather, which is nice 90% of the time, and fashion is about trendy rather than classic, I was shocked when I arrived on the East Coast for college. In general, people were much more conservative and traditional in their appearance. But it also shocked me that women seemed to be much more put together at all times. Flip flops, Juicy Couture sweat suits and tanks were not the go to outfit for a quick trip to run errands. They actually got "dressed." It was here, that my notion of fashion really started to evolve. I began working for a renowned designer, in one of his high-end boutiques, where I started to really get a grasp on the effort one should put into getting dressed everyday.

After several years on the East Coast I wanted a change of pace (and a change of weather), so I moved to Atlanta where things were quite different. The impression that most people have of Atlanta is far different from how it actually is. It is a bourgeoning cosmopolitan city with people who have migrated from every other major city in the US. The shopping options, while not as large as New York or Los Angeles, are quite amazing and very diverse. It was here in Atlanta, more than ever, where I became troubled by the fashion choices that young women were making. I guess I've always been an old soul trapped in a young body. So I live by a few principles when it comes to style: often what is left to the imagination is usually more treasured; just because something is the latest trend, doesn't mean it is the latest trend for you; and unfortunately we live in an appearance driven society so always be presentable because 9 times out of 10, it is your first impression. With these practices and many more, I have helped women with their styles that were once lost and others who were unaware that it was yet to be found.

Follow me on my journey, as I attempt to share with young women the style tips that I've learned. Get ready to turn heads and catch people's attention for all the right reasons... become Unforgettably Chic!
