Trend Report

I've always felt a little weird about the idea of following trends. While the current trends for this season were decided over a year ago by top designers around the world, most women are scrambling through malls and boutiques still trying to catch up with last season's "must haves." It is a never-ending chase and becomes quite expensive when you are constantly trying to replace things that are no longer "in style."

To be honest, just because something is trendy right now and works for Sarah Jessica Parker does not mean it's right for you and your body. A lot of women have on blinders when they look in the mirror and see something that they wished they had rather than working with what they've really got.

Instead, I believe in taking inspiration from a trend while staying true to yourself and keeping it relatable to your body, age, attitude and aesthetic.

The thing is, the fashion business is just that, a business. The idea is to keep you coming back for more. When you invest money each season into what is hot at the time, you are eventually destined to end up with a closet full of clothes that are completely irrelevant in a few seasons. Some things are classic and while fashionable, will never go out of style. A Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dress, a Chanel tweed jacket, a pair of levi denim jeans, a fabulously fitted black pencil skirt, a great brown leather tote and a navy blazer are all pieces that might be updated over time but will never loose their appeal or become any less "trendy."
